Hello, my name is William Potter. Everyone calls me Bill. I was born in Elizabethton, TN. Not long after my family moved to Lodi, New Jersey, where I stayed until I was 8 years old and my mother convinced my father to move back to Elizabethton. My father owned and operated a small roofing business for over 50 years, meaning I grew up working on roofs. I attended college at East Tennessee State University and graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. I first went to work in the grocery business, where I was a store manager and supervisor for 13 years. I began my journey in the financial services industry in 1993 at Prudential Insurance, where I stayed for 3 years until becoming an independent insurance broker in 1996. I have been independent for a full 30 years now! This career allowed me to do something I truly love during that time, which was be a High School wrestling coach at Elizabethton High School for 14 years. I married my wife Mellissa Gregg in 1987 and had our first and only child, Zack in 1989.
