Pierce Mahar

Chapter President

Pierce Mahar is the founder of EFS Financial Advisors and Education Funding Specialists within the Empire Financial Advisors group.  Pierce is part of the Business Council for Empire Financial Advisors.

He developed his practice based upon a holistic approach to finances and the concept of open architecture in developing accumulation and distribution strategies.  In addition, Pierce has helped hundreds of college bound families navigate the complexities of preparing students for college, determining the right college fits and how to pay for college.

One of Pierce’s primary goals as financial advisor is to help his clients manage risks. Many of his clients are at or near retirement, and Pierce uses a holistic approach to help them understand three of the most important major risks they’ll face in retirement—market risk, inflation risk and sequence of return risk—and together they can map out retirement strategies designed to help clients meet their goals and objectives, so they’ll have income for life.

Giving back is a core principle that Pierce works at every day. He gives back to his community by offering workshops and seminars on income distribution planning, Medicare planning, retirement planning, college planning and estate planning.  He has provided library workshops over the years and has begun his affiliation with The American Financial Educational Alliance (AFEA), a non-profit financial wellness program, where Pierce provides workshops to educate and empower Americans in their financial lives.

Pierce is adevoted to his family and loves spending time with his wife, Mary, and their two children, Sarah and Nicholas.

A lifetime of recreational activities includes baseball, softball, skiing and golf.  He has given back to the community as a baseball/softball coach for many organizations and remains active as a baseball instructor. As a college baseball player, he was selected as a 1St Team All-American.  He has been inducted into the Baseball Halls of Fame of New York State, SUNY Brockport, The Albany Twilight League and Catholic Central High School
