One does not have to spend much time with me to discover that I am from the mountains of East Tennessee. If my deep southern accent does not give it away, then the stories that I tell will surely bear testimony of the place where I was reared. It was in this small town nestled at the foot of the Smokey Mountains that my life and my character were shaped.
For more than 20 years, I have attempted to balance two complementary loves in my professional life: education and financial services. Having completed doctoral degrees in theology and finance, I have spent much of my career teaching at the university level. Currently, I am Professor of Finance at Cedarville University where I teach classes in financial planning, investments, and portfolio management.
I am also a financial advisor, where I help people through comprehensive financial planning. In this context, I am able to utilize my background in tax accounting (CPA) and insurance to help others find solutions and clarity to difficult financial and life situations.
My in-depth knowledge of taxes and their impact on investments and retirement, alongside my love for teaching, allow me to effectively convey complex financial concepts to others in an understandable manner. To be sure, I find energy and excitement in serving others and helping them to discover solutions to stewarding their money well.
