Rick Dunnett was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan before moving to the South suburbs of Chicago.  He attended Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights before going on to Eastern Illinois University where he studied economics.

He began his career working in the pits at the Chicago Board of Trade and is now at Hammer Financial Group pursuing his true passion of helping retirees and pre-retirees navigate the complex issues of social security maximization, Roth conversions, tax mitigation and income planning. Over the course of his career, he has worked for major Wall Street firms where he developed expertise in portfolio management, private equity and venture capital. 

Rick lives in Schererville, IN with his wife Gaby and his two daughters, Sofia and Renee. He enjoys spending time with his family, which includes coaching his girls’ softball teams and being in the outdoors.  His favorite hobbies include musky, steelhead and salmon fishing, golf and cheering on the Chicago White Sox. He also ran the Chicago Marathon two times.

In realizing the importance of a well-constructed retirement plan and how much poor information was easily made available to those looking to retire, joining AFEA was a logical next step.  “People work their entire lives, saving the best they can to hopefully retire one day in comfort…. then making poor decisions on major issues such as Social Security and estate planning to ultimately have their wealth taxed away….retirees simply lack the tools or trusted professionals to assist them.” 

Rick is passionate about planning and learning about his clients’ dreams in retirement. He wants them to look forward with anticipation – not apprehension.

Tamara has been in the insurance and financial services industry for over 35 year.   Her vast experience in the life, health, long term care and medicare fields has led her to working with seniors and meeting the needs of this underserved market. Tamara enjoys exercising, working in her yard, and spending time with her three children and her granddaughter, Taylor.   

Emily is a Financial Advisor and has been with Hammer Financial Group since August of 2017. She has a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from Purdue University. She holds her Series 6, 63, and 65 Securities licenses, as well as life and health insurance licenses. Emily’s passion is helping clients make educated decisions to create confidence with regard to their financial plans. She understands the phenomenon of ‘spending paralysis’ which erodes our ability to enjoy our retirement years. Emily embraces a holistic approach: encompassing wealth management, social security optimization, insurance, tax mitigation, and Medicare. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to new places, exercising, and gardening.
